Mother Wit’s mission is to provide wellness services that promote healthy pregnancies, contribute to safe and satisfying birth experiences and ease the transition into parenthood.
Special emphasis is placed on the year leading up to pregnancy, throughout pregnancy and the first year postpartum while keeping in mind that postpartum is forever and that it's never too late to reach out for help.
Mother Wit offers a free 15 minute consultation to determine how we can best meet your needs. With services ranging from fitness and nutrition to in-home, personalized services and education that help families better prepare for labor and birth, the postpartum needs of the mother, lactation support, newborn care and more. We employ creative approaches to supporting a healthy transition into parenthood that are sustainable and support a healthy lifestyle.
Founder, Midwife, Trainer
Tanya is the founder of Mother Wit Maternity Services. She is a Certified Nurse Midwife with 19 years experience in Maternal-Infant health. As a young mother, she began her career as a labor support and postpartum doula in 2000. She quickly realized that she was destined to be a midwife. She became a Registered Nurse in 2003 and a Certified Nurse-Midwife in 2007. She was on the faculty of Philadelphia University, an innovative distance learning program and is currently adjunct faculty at New York University and Georgetown University. She has cared for thousands of women over the years in and around New York City and has caught nearly 1200 babies.
Tanya has always had an active lifestyle. Her first love was dancing and performing. During her own pregnancy, she saw clearly how important it was to have a supportive team and her passion shifted to that of women's health. She has spent her long career helping women achieve optimal health. She loves everything about being a midwife except the limited time she often has with clients. She finds that two of the most powerful tools in her toolbox are things that don't fit neatly into prenatal care; fitness and nutrition. Tanya is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Crossfit Level 1 Trainer and a Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism Coach.
When her daughter went off to college, she decided it was time to innovate, to step outside of the traditional patient-provider relationship. Mother Wit was born!
