Pregnancy and Exercise

What could be better than working out with a midwife by your side? Tanya is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Crossfit Level 1 Trainer and Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism Coach. Your personalized work out will not only keep you in good shape, which is excellent preparation for labor, it will facilitate the best possible fetal positioning and will avoid exercises that can cause discomfort or put excessive stress on your abdominal wall and pelvic floor.

The most common reason I hear from women for not exercising during pregnancy is a fear of harming the pregnancy. The truth is, not exercising during pregnancy is associated with complications including excessive weight gain and an increased risk of developing high blood pressure and gestational diabetes.

It is recommended that pregnant women exercise for 2.5 hours per week in a fairly even mix of cardio and strength training. Come check out our group classes or individual training options.

Pregnancy and Nutrition

Did you know that your baby develops its tastebuds in utero and is more likely to prefer the foods that you consume when pregnant?

Did you know that your diet can have profound effects on the future health of your baby and that scientists have found a correlation between maternal diet and risk of allergies, obesity and other conditions?

Let us help you meet the nutritional demands of pregnancy.

If you are interested in learning healthier cooking strategies or are in need of a better understanding of your caloric requirements as well as creating a healthy balance of protein, fats and carbs, we will get creative on your behalf.
